Sicily with Sicilians
(finally...)

November 2-9, 2026

Sicilian State of Mind

Immerse yourself in one of the most unique experiences in the world: Sicily.

High above the Sicilian coastline, the Mediterranean wind carries salt and citrus through the air while waves break against the cliffs below. This island holds centuries within it — Greek, Roman, Arab, Byzantine, Norman — and you feel that weight everywhere you go, in the stones, the food, the way people speak and move through their days.

You've walked through ancient ruins and browsed markets piled with fresh produce, shaped pasta by hand before sitting down to eat it, and grabbed arancini from a traditional "Rosticceria" while they were still hot. On the slopes of Etna, a winemaker walked you through fields of Carricante and Nerello Mascalese, talking about soil and timing like someone who has learned to listen to the land. A shepherd showed you how ricotta is made when it goes from the fresh milk to the bowl in the same morning.

Tomorrow there's a boat, a Greek temple, and another meal somewhere that someone has invited you to prepare together at their home.

Sicily doesn't try to impress you. It just keeps offering itself — one unhurried day at a time. This it the experience we strive to offer. The only one we know.

Reasons to Travel with Seligo, Salvatore & Raffaele

Salvatore Pluchino is the founder of Seligo Experience, an activist gastronomist and experience curator who has spent the past 10 years doing one thing: making sure Sicily is understood and experienced on its own terms. Born and raised in Modica, in the island's southeast, with land in the Iblean countryside and relationships built over decades, he doesn't move through Sicily as a visitor — he belongs to it. The celebration of the island's unique culture and traditions inspired him to create the multi-experiential brand Seligo, which is not only his daily job but a lifetime promise to his heritage.

Raffaele Pluchino is the founder of Sicily Bike Routes. Born and raised in Modica, he saw the potential of exploring Sicily in a different way many years before it became a must-visit destination — at a slower pace, far from the mainstream tourist attractions, along ancient back-roads that wind through centuries-old olive and carob groves. He recognized the bike as a tool to enjoy the real pace of the island, its rural farms, and its traditions. Building on this idea, Raffaele has guided hundreds of people to the secret places that still hold meaningful memories for him. He found his calling in the pleasure of sharing them, turning it into a meaningful experience for curious, empathetic travelers.

Day by Day

DAY 1: of Sugar and Stone

You will explore Modica's charming alleys, following my personal take on my hometown, while tasting delicious pastries and savory traditional treats that tell about the past of Modica, as one of the finest and most enchanting towns in all of southern Italy. Here, sugar and stone reveal themselves as two arts shaped by the same patient hands — one in the pastry shop, one on the church facades. That same craftsmanship carries you onward to Scicli and Ragusa Ibla, where every bite and every stone still tell the story of a Sicily built and rebuilt across centuries of conquest and creation.

Where We Sleep

We always choose places that capture the real essence of our wonderful island - sometimes we get enchanted by a sunset on the terrace or the majestic view of our volcano, other times it's simply the scent in the breeze coming from the sea - and we suddenly know: that place will make you feel like you are part of Sicily.

*On rare occasions, our hotels will change. Our standards for a unique and authentic experience will not.

Seligo is Sicily.

— not a brand inspired by Sicily, but Sicily itself: its traditions, its memory, its food, its people. Seligo, from the Latin seligere, means to choose with discernment — to select what is true and leave behind what is convenient. That act of choosing by those who love it honestly. We don't translate the island for you; we bring you into the authenticity of it. Every experience Seligo offers is built from the inside out — by Sicilians, in Sicily, through relationships and trust that took years and generations to earn. When you travel with us, you're not following a guide with a clipboard and an agenda. You're walking with people who grew up walking those alleys, who know which turn will lead to an unforgettable moment, who can argue with a fisherman in dialect and come back with the freshest fish.

That intimacy cannot be manufactured or faked. It lives in the land, and it lives in us — and Seligo exists to share that sense of belonging with you. Benvenuti in Sicilia!
